Star Wars fans, and let’s be honest, the world, has been waiting for more info on Baby Yoda/The Child. The Mandalorian’s cutest star has finally had it’s official name and backstory revealed.
Spoiler Warning: This article contains major spoilers for The Mandalorian: Chapter 13.
His name is Grogu.
This long awaited news was revealed by a “Stars Wars” fan favorite, Ahsoka Tano. In Season 2, Episode 5, Tano (played by Rosario Dawson) makes her live-action debut.
On Friday’s episode, Ahsoka tells Din Djarin, “Grogu and I can feel each other’s thoughts.” Grogu was trained by many masters over the years and was raised in the Jedi Temple. He was hidden at the end of the Clone Wars when Darth Vader and the Empire rose to power.
It’s unclear whether or not his memory was wiped, but Grogu cannot remember who took him from the Temple. Tano mentions knowing only one other being like him, and references Yoda.
Tano senses fear and possible darkness is Grogu. Star Wars fans know that fear is a path to the darkside. “Fear leads to anger and anger leads to hate.”
However, Tano believes that it’s better for Baby Yoda if his abilities fade. She tells Mando to take him to an old Jedi Temple on Tython, where Grogu could possibly reach out to other Jedi for help.
With this in mind, fans are waiting to see if Mando and Grogu make it to the temple. In the event that they do, what path will Grogu choose?
