Zach Sobiech’s “Clouds” Reaches #1 on iTunes Following Release of Disney+ Film Documenting His Life

Zach Sobiech’s message and legacy still lives on.

Seven years ago, 18-year-old Zach Sobiech passed follow his battle with bone cancer. Seven years ago, his inspirational song “Clouds” reached number one on the iTunes charts. Now, seven years later, the song has made history as downloads skyrocketed after the release of a film documenting his life on Disney+.

The film entitled Clouds stars Fin Argus and Sabrina Carpenter and is directed by Justin Baldoni. Baldoni first met Zach while directing an episode of the YouTube series My Last Days. Sobiech and Baldoni grew close and before Zach passed, Baldoni promised that he would do whatever it took to tell his story.

Years later, Baldoni made good on his promise with the film Clouds.

Following Clouds’ release on Disney+, Zach’s song begin to climb the iTunes charts again. Baldoni even took to social media to encourage people to help Zach reach the chart’s top spot.

On Sunday, the song did just that. By accomplishing this, Zach became the first unsigned artist to hit the top spot twice. Disney+ and Justin Baldoni expressed their admiration in the post below.

Proceeds from the song go towards Zach’s Osteosarcoma Research fund. The foundation has already raised an astonishing $2 million and counting.

Zach’s story is an inspirational one and his message still rings true even years after his passing. We all can fly a little higher.
