Zac Efron To Star In Disney+ Reboot Of ‘Three Men And A Baby’

Coming off of his success with his Netflix documentary, Down to Earth with Zac Efron, the former High School Musical breakout is set to star in the 1987 hit classic, Three Men And A Baby on the streaming platform, Disney+. The original film, based off of the 1985 French film ,Trois hommes et un couffin, was a huge success in 1987 as it was the biggest box hit of the year grossing $240 million world wide.

Three Men and a Baby (1987) cast included mustachioed superstar, Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg and TV legend, Ted Danson as the three bachelors learned the intricacies of parenthood when baby Mary enters their life. With a tiny budget ($11 million), the film outperformed expectation and is a staple of the 1980’s thanks to it’s cast and the heartwarming story.

Efron, 32, has been in and out of Film and Television for the past 17 years and has slowed down a bit after a huge stretch of featured films between 2014-2017 (Neighbors, That Awkward Moment, Dirty Grandpa, Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates, Neighbors 2, Baywatch, The Disaster Artist and The Greatest Showman). His Netflix documentary, Down To Earth With Zac Efron, follows the star as he travels the world focusing on themes of travel, life experience, nature, green energy and sustainable living practices and was released in July of this year.

This marks another addition to the original (or reboot) programing that Disney+ has continued to offer and produce as the ‘streaming wars‘ rage on. With few details of when, what and most importantly WHO are in store for the Three Men and a Baby remake, there is only room to speculate. My suggestion? Try to recapture the on screen chemistry from the film ‘That Awkward Moment’

Although the film was a box office and review nightmare, many critics made note of the charming cast that included Zac Efron, Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan. That Awkward Moment had a similar movie trope where three young bachelors actively fought against ‘growing up’ and moving into adulthood. The three young stars would be a good fit to match the firepower brought by the first film with Efron, Teller and Jordan dominating ‘heartthrob’ roles over the past decade. If all else fails, Disney can just pair Zac Efron with Adam Devine as seen in Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates (2016)…

No date on production or release has been set so I wouldn’t expect the film earlier than late 2021, early 2022. Fans will certainly be watching for the announcement of 2/3 of the Three Men and we will keep you updated!
