“The Lion King” and “Beauty and the Beast” both saw huge success as live action remakes. Following the success, Disney has a docket of movies it is going to remake. Many fan favorites are on the list, but don’t get too excited, “Atlantis: The Lost Empire,” is not.
Recently, co – directors Kirk Wise and Gary Trousdale were asked point – blank if there are plans to reboot it. Both denied the rumors, stating that it was just wishful thinking on the fans part. In fact, at D23, they were explicitly told “Atlantis” isn’t on the docket. Both Wise and Trousdale don’t necessarily think it’s a negative that the movie wont be getting a reboot. Although they’re happy their movie has brought such joy in fans, they’d rather fans go watch the original.
Hopefully, this news doesn’t upset anyone too much. Especially since there are so many other good live – actions coming up. The list includes:
- Mulan
- Cruella
- Snow White and the Seven Darves
- The Little Mermaid
- The Jungle Book 2
- Peter Pan
- The Sword in the Stone
- The Hunchback of Notre Dame
- Lilo & Stitch
- Pinocchio
Do you want to see a live – action “Atlantis,” or would you rather they left it alone?
