It’s hard to believe that it’s been 25 years since Toy Story first aired in theaters, but it still resonates as a fan-favorite even after all these years. From Woody’s charm and leadership to Buzz’s excitement and spontaneity, these characters brought to life memories of childhood through their adventures and friendships.
Fun Facts
- In 1995, Toy Story made the Guinness Book of World Records by being the first feature-length computer-animated movie.
- Buzz Lightyear was named after one of the first astronauts to walk the moon, Buzz Aldrin.
- Woody was intended to be a bad guy, but concerns over likability resulted in a change of character.
- “Pizza Planet” was almost named “Pizza Putt.”
- A Nightmare Before Christmas’ success was a major reason that Toy Story got the greenlight to be created.
- Toy Story released in theaters on November 22nd, 1995. The movies budget $30 million! However, that money was nothing compared to the $373 million it made in Box Office revenue.

Easter Eggs
Disney/Pixar fans love to scope out the easter eggs and hidden Mickey’s in every movie! Here are a few of them from Toy Story (1995).
Image 1 – The toolbox that is used to weigh down Woody in the crate at Sid’s is a reference to “Home Improvement” which stars Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear)
Image 2 – The books behind Woody in this scene are all written by “Lasseter” which is reference to “John Lasseter” former creative chief officer of Disney/Pixar.
Image 3 – The carpet from The Shining was also used in Sid’s house to represent his character as evil.
