Deadline reported that Hanks recently reached out to Zemeckis with word that he is interested in the role. A few years ago, Disney reportedly approached Hanks to play the beloved part. At this time, Paul King was set to direct the project. As far as we all can tell, nothing came out of those arrangements. However, Tom Hanks and Robert Zemeckis share a history of success. They worked together on Cast Away, The Polar Express, and Forrest Gump. Though nothing is official just yet, we’re hoping for official word soon!
