As many guests know, Splash Mountain is being re-themed to The Princess and The Frog story. Even though there has been no official date for this change, Splash Mountain classic merchandise has been flying off the shelves at the Magic Kingdom Park since the park reopened. This change has introduced guests to what Disney is calling their virtual queue or in this case a virtual waitlist for the Splash Mountain gift shop called the Briar Patch. The Briar Patch is located at the exit of Splash Mountain and offers exclusive Splash Mountain merchandise! This is the place that Splash Mountain enthusiasts can find Funko Pop! figurines, stuffed Briar Bear, Briar Fox, and Briar Rabbit and the Splash Mountain Ornament ear hat just to name a few.

The virtual waitlist works like this: a Cast Member standing near the store will take your phone number down and put you in line on the virtual queue. The virtual queue will call the phone numbers in order that the Cast Member receives them. When the time comes for your phone number to be called, you will receive a text saying that you may be allowed to enter the store and shop. Many guests that visited the Magic Kingdom were surprised by the virtual waitlist and found themselves waiting 2 to 3 hours for a text that it was their turn to enter the store. Surprisingly the only place that reached capacity at the Magic Kingdom is the Briar Patch Splash Mountain gift shop! Social Distancing rules and procedures were kept in line by the Cast Members in that area to keep both guests and Cast Members safe.

If you are planning on visiting the Magic Kingdom and plan on buying Splash Mountain merchandise, make sure you make visiting the Briar Patch shop a first stop so that you can get in line for the virtual waitlist! This will help everyone have a chance to visit the Briar Patch Splash Mountain shop before the ride is re-themed. Don’t forget to jump in line for Splash Mountain as well and plan to get wet! “It’s the truth, it’s actual! Everything is Satisfactual!” ~Splash Mountain Theme Song
