Alright my fellow witches and warlocks, hold on to your hats and brooms because Disney is releasing a new Hocus Pocus board game! Yay for Spooky Season! Forget Summer, I’m clearly ready for Autumn, warm sweaters, pumpkin-spiced everything, and of course, gathering all my witches for a fun game night!
So according to Ravensburger, the game is set to be released in August 2020. At the Toy Fair, Ravensburger gave a snippet of how the game works, and to be honest, I can not wait to play! In the game, players will have the chance to destroy the Sanderson’s potion made for the children of Salem (not today, WITCHES!), and even have an opportunity to encounter some old and favorite characters from the movie including Binx, the beloved cat that looked after the Sanderson house for centuries, and Billy Butcherson, Winifred Sanderson’s ex-boyfriend. (Oh Binx, you clawed your way into my heart back in 1993!).
So besides having potions, characters, and spells in the game, the cover of the board game is a spell book! I mean, would you just take a GANDER at the illustrations! Those are some great details right there! It’s designed to look like the spell book that the Sanderson Sisters used throughout the movie to carry out their devious, yet somewhat vain and shallow plans (But TBH… who doesn’t want to look young forever? Sometimes concealer is just not enough!).
I know that most of us, if not all of us, are always looking forward to Disney in the Fall, and this game has only amped up the excitement and anticipation! And to make things even more “Spook-tacular,” DisneyParks blog has posted that Disney will be releasing two more board games in time for Fall. Look out for “The Haunted Mansion: Call of The Spirits Game” and “Funkoverse: Strategy Game” coming your way soon!
