John Ratzenberger has lent his voice to a character in every single Pixar film since the animation studio’s first film Toy Story in 1995. In fact, he is the only person to ever do so.
Don’t believe us? Here’s a list of all the characters Ratzenberger has voiced:
- Construction Worker Fenwick– Onward (2020)
- Hamm- Toy Story (1995), Toy Story 2 (1999), Toy Story 3 (2010), Toy Story 4 (2019)
- Underminer– The Incredibles (2004), Incredibles (2018)

- Fish School– Finding Nemo (2003)
- P.T. Flea- A Bug’s Life (1998)
By this point, fans were expecting to hear Ratzenberger’s famous voice in Pixar’s newest film. But even after the final scene, his voice was not heard. Ratzenberger’s name wasn’t even in the credits.
It seemed as if a classic Pixar Easter Egg was completely left out of Soul and a long-standing tradition had been broken. In an interview, the film’s director Pete Docter assured fans that Ratzenberger was indeed in the film but would not disclose his location.
All was unveiled during a Twitter watch party when writer Kemp Powers confirmed that Ratzenberger was in the film and had a non-speaking role. A character bearing his likeness briefly appears onscreen during the subway scene. He appears around the 1 hour and 8-minute mark of the film if you want to see him for yourself.
It’s untraditional in the case of Ratzenberger’s cameos, but at least he does make an appearance and is not completely left out of the film.
