Shanghai Disneyland became the first Disney park to reopen since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic when they opened their doors on May 11th. As expected, the park is in a more progressed phase then parks such as Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris which includes a return (trial) of their nightly fireworks show – Ignite the Dream; A Nighttime Spectacular of Magic and Light.
According to Disney, the show will take place nightly at 9PM through Sunday, August 2nd. With no dates listed beyond August 2nd, this will clearly be a trial run for the theme park. The Shanghai Disneyland firework show is not the first ‘show’ to return to the park however, with five current shows running (with social distancing protocols in place):
- Frozen: A Singalong Celebration
- The Golden Fairytale Fanfare stage show
- The Avengers Training Initiative
- Club Destin-E
- Treasure Cove, the Eye of the Storm: Captain Jack’s Stunt Spectacular stage performance
For fans of Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris, this sparks hope that nightly shows and other regular events may slowly return over the next few months. With Halloween, Christmas and New Years right around the corner, I’m sure many fans are eager to see some of their favorite shows!
