On August 26th, a Pirates of the Caribbean animatronic reportedly fell over, causing the attraction to be temporarily closed. One guest witnessed the animatronic while riding the attraction, but couldn’t get any videos or pictures of the incident. By the time the guest got off of the ride, the attraction was already listed as ‘temporarily closed’ on the My Disney Experience app.

The guest said that the animatronic had fallen forward at a 75 degree angle, indicating that it had not completely fallen over. This is not the first time we’ve seen Disney animatronics malfunction!

A Cast Member confirmed that the ride was closed due to the animatronic and jokingly said, “It looks like he may have had a bit too much rum”.

The attraction opened later the same day and has been opened since the incident happened this past Wednesday. Watch out for tipsy pirates the next time you visit the Caribbean!
