The first attraction inspired by the 2016 animated Disney film Moana is not expected to be ready by the end of 2021 as a part of the overhaul of Epcot’s Future World in Florida. Starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Auliʻi Cravalho, Rachel House and others – Moana was a box office hit in 2016 with a killer soundtrack and the basis for one of the best running social media gags with Dwayne Johnson’s daughter refusing to believe he is indeed the character Maui…
The upcoming attraction ‘Journey Of Water’ is much more of an interactive experience and trail as opposed to a ride where guests where guests can interact with magical, living water in a beautiful and inspiring setting. Anchored by a massive topiary of Tefiti, Moana’s Journey of Water will consist of a lush walk-through environment that engages and educates guests about the water cycle and how it sustains our world.
Expected to be located between Spaceship Earth and the Seas with Nemo & Friends, the Journey of Water exhibit will be part of the complete overhaul of Future World which is being replaced by 3 new neighborhoods named ‘World Nature’ which is dedicated to understanding and preserving the natural world.
Walt Disney once said Epcot “would always be in a state of becoming” – it is a place that changes with the times
In April of 2020, it was announced that Journey of Water would be completed in 2021 but was quickly retracted. It is now expected to be complete for the fortieth anniversary of ECPOT in 2022.
