Earlier this week, LEGO announced the newest addition to their Disney themed product line: Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Buildable Characters! The product is set to be released on August 1st, 2020 with pre-orders beginning on July 1st. The set is recommended for builders 18 and up and comes with 1,739 pieces. Retail price is $180.00.
Each character is placed on interconnecting bases in the shape of film cells labeled with their corresponding autographs. Mickey stands 14 inches tall while Minnie is 13 inches. Buildable accessories including a tripod, vintage camera, guitar, flower bouquet, and photo album are also included.
According to LEGO, this product is “part of a collection of inspiring LEGO building sets for adults interested in pop culture, art, architecture and design, they make an excellent gift for yourself or a Disney fan in your life looking for their next project.”
What makes this set unique is that once built, Mickey and Minnie can be posed. The models can be customized even more with interchangeable eyepieces for different expressions.
This set is the latest in LEGO’s already extensive line of Disney products for all ages and price ranges. The most popular (and expensive) products are The Disney Castle and Disney Train Station. There have also been two series of minifigure blindbags featuring characters from different films and franchises in LEGO form.
If this set is popular, it would be interesting to see LEGO release Goofy, Donald, Daisy, and Pluto in the same format. What do you think of LEGO’s latest set?
