Fans of the 1993 cult classic, rejoice! It’s been confirmed that Hocus Pocus Two will be making it’s way straight to Disney Plus in 2021.
Our three favorite witches will be reprising their roles. Get ready for Winifred, played by Bette Midler, Sarah, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, and Mary, played by Kathy Najimy.
Hocus Pocus 2 will be directed by Adam Shankman. When being interviewed by Fox 5 New York, Bette Midler said, “They want to make a movie. They’ve asked us if we’re interested. Of course all of us said yes!”
There’s currently no confirmation if any of the other original actors will be joining. But a big maybe is Doug Jones, who played Billy Butcherson. He is quoted saying, “So I’m just going to keep my knees bent and be ready in case they call.”
The original movie had the Sanderson Sisters luring children to their deaths. They would become immortal by sucking the youth out of them. In 1693, the three witches were hung in Salem for their crimes. Before their deaths, they were able to recite a spell that would eventually bring them back from the dead.
Three hundred years later, Max, a teenage ‘Californian’ moves to Salem with his family, and despite the warnings from his sister and one of the locals, he lights the Black Flame Candle.
The sisters, of course, come back; and the kids take off with Winnie’s Spell Book. The witches only have 24 hours to recite the incantation for immortality or they’ll die all over again.
We’re so excited for this sequel and will be counting down the days until it’s here!
