A “Hocus Pocus” sequel has been in the works for a long time. As we get closer to Halloween, fans are clamoring for any details they can get.
“Hocus Pocus 2: Rise of the Elderwitch” is not a remake, it’s a sequel to the original movie. The original film, released in 1993, starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy. It follows a young girl and her brother who accidentally bring the 3 witches back to life. Although popular now, the film was originally a critical failure. Unfortunately, because it did so poorly, there were no plans for it to have a sequel. Once it began gaining a cult following, Disney began considering a sequel.
“Hocus Pocus 2” will be written by Jen D’Angelo and directed by Adam Shankman. Not much is known about the plot yet. However, it could follow the 2018 book, “Hocus Pocus and the All – New Sequel.” The book followed the daughter of Max and Allison, who didn’t believe her parents stories about the witches. Therefore, she goes to explore, and accidentally wakes the witches up. As far as casting goes, all 3 Sanderson sisters are already on board to return for the film.
The film is set to be released on Disney+, although a date has not been chosen yet. Are you excited for the sequel? Let us know below.
