‘Hamilton’ Could Make History Again on Broadway in 2021

The smash hit musical ‘Hamilton’ could make history again! This time, by becoming the first show to return to Broadway after the pandemic. The musical will return to the stage at Richard Rodgers Theatre. In fact, the reopening date of July 4th, 2021 is no coincidence. It was purposely chosen to parallel the events featured in the musical. Events like the drafting and signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Hamilton

This masterpiece is a sung-and-rapped-through musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It tells the story of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. It is based off of the biography Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow.

While on vacation from performing in his hit Broadway show In the Heights, Miranda read a copy of the 2004 biography Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. Shortly after finishing the first few chapters, he began to envision the life of Hamilton as a musical. He researched whether a stage production had been created. He discovered that a play that had been done on Broadway in 1917.

At the present time, there is a filmed version of the hit musical. It is available to stream exclusively on Disney Plus.

The musical has received critical acclaim since it’s opening. It has won multiple awards including Tonys and Grammys. It has even won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
