It’s been a rough decade for James Cameron’s breakout film franchise “Avatar.” The film series, which is supposed to be 4 films in total, hit snag after snag since it’s announcement in 2009. It was supposed to be released in 2017, but that was pushed back to 2018, 2020, 2021, and now 2022. Throughout the years, fans have felt frustration as the sequels kept getting delayed, but now it seems the wait is closer than ever to being over.
James Cameron recently confirmed that despite Covid, “Avatar 2” has finally finished filming. Although filming was delayed for 4 months due to Covid, it’s ok. Filming was done in New Zealand. Luckily, New Zealand has remained largely Covid free, making things easier for Cameron and the cast. Unfortunately, we’ll still have to wait until 2022 for the finished product. However, they wont face any more filming delays, so it’s progress.
