Disney will begin production on its newest live-action movie “Peter Pan and Wendy,” which is based on its animated 1953 version “Peter Pan.” Filming will begin shooting in March 2021 and should be wrapping up in June 2021.
Earlier this year, the characters of Peter and Wendy were cast by New Zealand’s Alexander Molnoy and Ever Anderson (daughter of actress Milla Jovovich and director Paul Anderson).
This Summer, Jude Law signed on to play Captain Hook.
The most recent casting was of the fairy with attitude, Tinkerbell. She will be played by “Grownish” actress Yara Shahidi. The star made the announcement via her Instagram page. Shahidi will be the first African American woman to be cast as the role.
Disney is still casting for the rest of the roles. The film will be directed by David Lowery (Pete’s Dragon) and produced by Jim Whitaker (A Wrinkle in Time) and Joe Roth (Maleficent).
The film was set to hit theaters late 2021, but the coronavirus pandemic may or may not set it back like it has with other Disney movies who set their dates back by a year or more.
