Disney Sued Over CBD Oil

Hester Burkhalter took her family on a trip to DIsneyworld last year. When they arrived at Magic Kingdom, security went through her bag. In her possession was a 1 oz. bottle of CBD oil. The security guard asked her if it contained THC. She replied that she didn’t know, security pulled her to the side, and police came and arrested her. Now, she’s suing Disney.

The Disney portion of the lawsuit is due to Burkhalter’s anger at the treatment of her family during the ordeal. Once pulled to the side, police arrested Burkhalter “in view of other guests.” Disney employees then asked her family to leave and never return to any Disney properties. Disney removed the ban about a month after the incident.

Burkhalter is being represented by Civil Rights attorney Ben Crump. She is suing The Walt Disney Company, a number of its executives, and The Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Her suit seeks millions of dollars for her, her family, and compensatory damages.
