Coming Soon: ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’

Walt Disney Animation Studios 59th feature film, Raya and the Last Dragon, will be released on March 12th, 2021. The film had an original debut date slated for November 21st, 2020, but its release has been delayed due to the pandemic.

Earlier, Disney revealed the film’s synopsis:

Raya will be an epic fantasy adventure with southeast Asian themes, set in a realm called Lumandra, described as “a reimagined earth inhabited by an ancient civilization”. Five clans form the land of the dragon, and Raya is determined to find the last dragon.

Actress Cassie Steele will voice Raya while actress and rapper Awkwafina will voice the dragon Sisu. These are the only known voice actors to be a part of the film.

The studio previously released concept art for the film. Raya is seen riding a mythical beast on her quest to find the last dragon.

A few days ago, Disney released the first promotional image for the film. The image depicts the titular character in the realm of Lumandra.

The poster doesn’t reveal too much about the film, but it is interesting to see the similarities between the concept art and the poster. Based on the information released so far, the film seems to be packed full of adventure and discovery.
