Lightsaber? Check. Droid? Check. Soda bottle? BANNED.
Out of all the thousands of unique and weapon-like souvenirs sold at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the Coca-Cola soda bottles have caused confusion and a new ban from TSA for thirsty air-travelers.
The palm-sized soda bottles emblazoned with logos rendered in the Aurebesh language are designed to look like thermal detonator grenades, and TSA now says that’s a no-go for airport security.
This ban only became public when a fan innocently asked TSA on Twitter if they could pack their bottle souvenirs in their suitcase.
An anonymous TSA representative replied to the tweet with, “Thanks for asking! Replica and inert explosives aren’t allowed in either carry-on or checked bags.”
TSA spokesperson Jim Gregory backed up the online reply stating, “Replica items are not allowed on aircraft.” He continued, “It could create concern that it’s the real thing.”
Overreach or necessary? Either way, it's definitely confirmed the bottles are not allowed to fly home with guests of Batuu.
