It’s been five years since Alan Rickman passed away. Looking back at his career, he has given us roles to last a lifetime. Whether he was your Hans Gruber, your Sir Alexander Dane, or your Severus Snape, he will always be missed. We love you, and thanks for the memories.
To Disney fans, he might be remembered as Absolem from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland movies. Alice Through the Looking Glass was his last movie in 2016. Known for his languid tone and delivery, Rickman’s signature sound was the result of a speech impediment as a child.
To older generations, his first cinematic role was probably his most well known. He played the antagonist, Hans Gruber, in the beloved Christmas movie, Die Hard. Playing opposite Bruce Willis, this movie skyrocketed Rickman into the spotlight. A year after Rickman passed away, Die Hard was added to the National Film Registry.
However, Alan Rickman is probably most well known for his portrayal of Severus Snape. The Harry Potter movies would not have been the same without him. He was our beloved head of Slytherin House, and Potions Master.
Whether he’s your Hans Gruber, or your Severus Snape, he will forever be part of our lives. We love you Alan. Always.
