More Cast members are returning to work! 2020 has been a crazy year for everyone. Especially the theme park industry. Disney has been hit hard with closures, layoffs, and furloughs. However, Disney World was able to open earlier this year. And with that, more jobs are coming back!
At last count, 32,000 people at Disney have been laid off. A large number of those employees were from Walt Disney World. However, with Disney World opening back up in July, more cast members have slowly been getting their jobs back.
During November, bookings at Walt Disney World increased by 77%. Thanksgiving week booked almost to the parks 35% capacity. Reservations for the parks have been split off into three different groups. They are Annual Passholders, Disney Resort Guests, and Theme Park Ticket Guests.
The increase from 25% to 35% was done without notice. So, there’s a possibility that the company could do it again without the public realizing. There’s also the recent announcement that Blizzard Beach and other Disney World Resorts will be opening in 2021. With all this happening, it stands to reason that even more cast members will be returning to work soon!
Sadly, for Disneyland and Disney California Adventure employees, their parks remain closed. There is an ongoing stay-at-home order in Southern California. So, the west coast will need to wait a little longer for some Disney Magic.
