Looking for recommendations:

  • We are staying at this hotel soon and would love to hear your experiences.
  • Is the hotel maintenance kept up?
  • Does it have safe elevator access?
  • Is the hotel staff friendly?
  • Is the room experience warm and friendly, or will we be shocked by what we encounter?

Thanks in advance for the tips.

The Tower of Terror made it’s screaming debut at MGM Studios (now Disney’s Hollywood Studios) on July 22nd, 1994 as part of the Sunset Boulevard park expansion. At the same time, Disney was wanting to add an e-ticket attraction to the park. Imagineers landed on a haunted hotel, and Tower of Terror was born. The development team decided that the Twilight Zone would be a perfect addition to the ride, and Disney acquired the rights to the show.

When you arrive at the Hollywood Tower Hotel, you are told that your room isn’t ready yet. You are then taken into the library. Once there, Rod Sterling comes on the television with the Twilight Zone Intro. He then tells the scary story of the hotel in true Twilight Zone fashion.

The Backstory

“Hollywood, 1939. Amid the glitz and glitter of a bustling young movie talent at the height of its golden age. The Hollywood Tower Hotel was a star in it’s own right. A beacon of the show business elite. Now, something is about to happen that will change all that.”

The story is that five people (a celebrity couple, a child star and her nanny, and a bellhop) were in the hotel’s elevator during a very stormy night. Without warning, lightning struck the tower and transported the elevator and it’s occupants into the Twilight Zone, or the fifth dimension.

Now it’s your turn. You’re invited to board the still-functioning service elevator, through the boiler room. It’s your one way trip straight to the Twilight Zone.
