Disney’s live action musical is about Giselle, an animated fairy tale, soon-to-be princess. She gets transported to modern day New York City while on her way to her wedding to Prince Edward (played by James Marsden). Once in the real world, she ends up falling in love with the cynical Robert (played by Patrick Dempsey). He is already engaged to Nancy (played by Idina Menzel).

This enchanting sequel will be directed by Adam Shankman, who is also directing Hocus Pocus 2. He took to social media this week to share the news! Disenchanted is currently in pre-production and a release date has not been set.

This 2007 film earned three Oscar nominations in the Best Original Song category. The songs up for the nominations? Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz’s “Happy Working Song“, “So Close“, and “That’s How You Know“.

One neat thing about this movie- some of the elderly dancers in the “That’s How You Know” number, were also Chimney Sweeps in Mary Poppins (1964).

Let’s hope that the sequel has just as many amazing moments.
