UPDATE: Disney officials confirmed that the Polynesian Village Resort will be undergoing refurbishments. The rooms are getting a “Moana” retheme. It’s likely they will be similar to the “Moana” carpet at Ohana. Disney will release the concept art and details in an upcoming announcement.

Disney confirmed this morning that the Polynesian Village Resort is going to remain closed until Summer of 2021.

In an unfortunate turn of events, an email sent to travel professionals this morning confirmed the Polynesian Village’s closure. Although guests were originally able to start scheduling dates of October 4, 2020 and later, now, they can’t book until mid – July 2021. It is unknown what caused the closure. Some reports say Disney is going to take the time to update the resort. Others say that it’s due to a decline in visitors to the parks.
