New face coverings have been rolling out for Cast Members at Disney Parks! Upon the reopening of Walt Disney World on July 11th, face masks were and still are mandatory for both gusts and Cast Members. Since then, there have been loads of really fun and creative face masks that have made the shelves like a Baby Yoda mask and Haunted Mansion face mask.

Cast Members are now able to join in on wearing some pretty stylish face coverings as well. In a post made by the Disney Parks Blog, face coverings have been distributed to Cast Members that were designed and created by fellow Cast members!

The masks are FOR Cast Members, BY Cast Members. These face coverings feature some of their own magic with highlights of pixie dust and Mickey constellations to make for a stylish yet functional wear. The goal for these face coverings was to emphasize the health and safety, but of course with a little hint of Disney magic.

Both Disneyland and Walt Disney World costuming teams – Disney Parks Live Entertainment, Worldwide Safety Services and Global Applied Technology – developed these face coverings remotely through a bi-costal effort. The project stemmed from a need to for a more unified and breathable face covering for the Cast Members on the front lines.

“The unified design speaks to the fact that we are still one unified Cast, one Disney ‘world,’” shared Yonit Olshan, Costume Designer, Disneyland Resort Costuming. “As a creative team, we gained so much from each other’s experience and exposure to different types of problems and projects.”

Offered exclusively for cast members in two styles, pleated and contoured, and in multiple sizes, the design team tested a wide range of fabrics, styles and features with a focus on comfort and function. Both styles feature adjustable spandex over the ears, extended nose pinch to the face, contoured shape under eyes, and lightweight, quick-drying material.

Drawing inspiration from classic Disney characters, films and television shows, the pattern unifies what Cast Members have in common – joy, magic, and a little pixie dust.

This is just another way that Disney is being intentional in promoting the health and safety of both their guests and Cast Members. If you are going to be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort soon, make sure to thank a Cast Member during your stay!
