There’s been a ton of construction going on at EPCOT that began before the parks closed for a couple of months. It seemed like the park had been at a stand-still with no progress being incredibly visible to guests, but that changed a few days ago. Take a look at the new pylons that were installed overnight at the main entrance of EPCOT!
Site Portfolio Executive for Walt Disney Imagineering, Zach Riddley, posted about the addition early Tuesday morning on Instagram. The new pylons pay homage to some of the original geometry and architecture of the theme park.
The pylons feature the original emblems of EPCOT on clear spires, which draws the eyes upwards. This leads us to look at the grandeur and enormity that is Spaceship Earth. And to think that this fountain isn’t even complete yet! We can’t wait to see the finished product!
Today Zach Riddley has given an updated post featuring a video of the behind-the-scenes installation of the pylons. The video shows Walt Disney Imagineering Cast Members installing the pylons overnight. Riddley also mentioned in his post that the pylons are 16 feet tall and weigh almost 4,000 pounds. This future fountain was digitally designed and polished using state-of-the art technology in order to achieve the reflection effect.
Riddley says that these pylons, “will welcome generations of guests to this park filled with the magic of possibility, discovery and wonder”.
If this is any indication of the designs coming to EPCOT in the future, we cannot wait to see what the rest of the park will look like! What do you think about the new addition? Let us know down below!
