Mulan Gets A New Release Date

Disney’s highly anticipated movie, Mulan, has yet another new release date. Mulan, which stars Liu Yifei, was originally set to hit theaters on March 27, 2020. The Corona Virus Pandemic forced Disney to hold off on that release date as states began to shut down mid March. Businesses and movie theaters alike closed indefinitely.

In the last few weeks, many states have started to “open” back up. Many states have used a 4 stage process in which they open their business with movie theaters being in the 3rd or 4th stage. Many movie theaters are still trying to figure out what the new movie going experience while be while still maintaining social distancing.

Mulan was given a new release date of July 24 after states began to reopen. The number of positive corona virus cases beg skyrocketed. Movie theaters once again pushed back their opening dates. This prompted Disney to push back their release date as well.

“While the pandemic has changed our release plans for Mulan and we will continue to be flexible as conditions require, it has not changed our belief in the power of this film and its message of hope and perseverance,” said Alan Horn, co-chairman and chief creative officer, and Alan Bergman, co-chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. “Director Niki Caro and our cast and crew have created a beautiful, epic, and moving film that is everything the cinematic experience should be, and that’s where we believe it belongs – on the world stage and the big screen for audiences around the globe to enjoy together.”

With that being said, the new date release date of Mulan is August 21, 2020.
