As part of the major Tokyo Disneyland Expansion, Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast will open in 2020. Disney just gave us our first look inside the attraction process and its breathtaking!
It will use physical animatronics with life-like faces similar to The Little Mermaid attraction in both Disney’s California Adventure & The Magic Kingdom in Orlando.
“We’re working with the Walt Disney Animation Studios to get their model and get their animation, and then our team here engineers and builds them, and then we program them using animation from the animation studios,” said Liana, who is one of the Imagineers in the company.
Guests will travel through the attraction on a trackless ride vehicle, designed after the look of Mrs. Potts and Chip. The ride vehicle will bring the guests along in the story, experiencing movements similar to dancing & ice skating. Guests will even dance with Belle and Beast in the iconic ballroom scene near the finale of the attraction.
“To have them actually get that sensation of dancing or ice skating, or interacting with the figures as they go around – the vehicle feels like it’s alive,” continued Liana.
After watching the sneak peak, it has really made us excited to get our first ride through ourselves! Stay tuned here as Disney unveils more about this attraction!
