Disney announced this past Wednesday that 2020 park ticket sales and hotel bookings would be resuming yesterday, July 9th. Upon the closure of the parks in March, Disney paused all ticket sales and hotel bookings temporarily in order to assist existing ticket holders and Annual Passholders plan their Park Reservations. These Park Reservations were originally reserved for guests who already had a hotel booked and purchased tickets. Reservations limit each guest to one park per day of their planned vacation. In simplified terms, park hopping is no more (at least for now).
Tickets and hotels for the rest of 2020 are available to book now, however each guest will need a Park Reservation as well. There are already a handful of dates in July that have reached capacity, but there are still plenty of days available to attend the parks in 2020. When booking your vacation you must do three things: 1. First, purchase your choice of tickets (there are some that are not available because of the new modifications) 2. Book your hotel and 3. Make Park Reservations for EACH day of your vacation.
These tickets/hotels were made available at different times yesterday in order to compensate for the high demand. There was definitely a lesson to learn from the failed Park Reservation drop day (AKA 14+ hour virtual waiting rooms). When booking your reservations, be prepared for some buffering and maybe a call to the Disney help desk.
If you get stuck or have any questions about your vacation be sure to call the Disney Reservation Center. Happy booking!
